Who We Are
Our Mission
The purpose of the Matilda Poppy Stangl Foundation is to honor those we love by living with grace and compassion, uplifting others through acts of kindness, and shining light and love into an imperfect world.
Tilly’s legacy is not one of grief and sadness, but rather one of strength and beauty. Every day that we live with grace and compassion, uplift others and shine a little bit more love into this world we are actively honoring our sweet Tilly. We invite you to join us!
Each year we will choose a benefitting organization based upon how old Tilly would be, what she would be needing or interested in, and donate our proceeds to that charity.
What That Means
-
Be gentle. Be kind. Be patient. We are all doing our best. Give yourself and others grace.
-
Sometimes we can use a helping hand, and sometimes we can reach out a hand to others. Be generous not only in your service but in your spirit. It feels good to do good.
-
All of our life journeys can come upon a dark road. Look for the light through faith. Or, if you can, be the light for someone else. Radiate love into this world every day through a smile, a listening ear, a warm embrace, an unexpected call. Let your light shine.
Make a Donation
Help us support worthwhile charities year after year by making a tax deductible donation. The Matilda Poppy Stangl Foundation is a registered 501c3 Organization.
Meet Us
Mike Stangl, Tilly’s Dad
Being the amazing father that he is (and the amazing golfer he wishes to be!), Mike came up with Tees for Tilly as a fun, impactful, extra special way to honor his beautiful daughter year after year. Mike serves as the Chairman of the foundation and is an integral part of its success thus far.
Emily Stangl, Tilly’s Mom
Emily gets so much joy from Tilly and is so proud to be her Mama. While the grief is immense, Emily finds some comfort in knowing that the foundation helps to honor Tilly and spread her love and light on this side of heaven. Emily serves as Secretary to the board.
Brian Barriball, Tilly’s Uncle
Brian is known in the family as being the “chill” guy, never getting frazzled or overly excited. We know that TIlly probably would have gone to him if she needed a break from her crazy parents! Brian is also known as the numbers guy and serves as the Treasurer of the foundation.
Dennis Barriball, Tilly’s Bubba
Dennis is Tilly’s grandpa, or Bubba, as he was dubbed in our family. The name fits, as most people use Bubba as a nickname meaning “friend, companion, loved one”, and that’s exactly what Bubba is and always will be to Tilly. Dennis serves as Trustee to the board.
Dave Stangl, Tilly’s Uncle & Godfather
Dave and his family gave Tilly a book called Silly Tilly and it quickly became one of her favorites. This book is perfect coming from Dave who is also silly and sweet. Dave serves as a Trustee for the foundation.
Chris Stoehr, Tilly’s Uncle
With Mike and Chris both being from Pittsburgh and living within 5 minutes of each other, we’re sure that Chris’s house would have been Tilly’s second home. A space to cheer for all things black and yellow! Chris serves as Trustee to the board.
Dave Mazzone, Tilly’s Uncle
If Tilly was ever in need of a good meal, good conversation or better golf lessons than her Dad could give her, Dave would have been the one to go to! Dave serves as Trustee to the board.
Finley, Tilly’s Dog
We know that Tilly and Finley would have been two peas in a pod, with Fin giving Tilly lots of kisses and cleaning up all of her spilled food! Fin currently serves as emotional support animal to the board.
